REVIEW // Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Black

Hey!

I've been messing around with new backgrounds for my photos so let me know what you think of this one, bear in mind this is in false lighting so may look a little better in natural lighting, anyways moving onto the review.

I've been a They're Real! fiend ever since I received it n last Summer's ELLE magazine and haven't really bothered trying any other mascaras, until it ran out and I couldn't be bothered forking out £19.50 for another one.

Since then I've been trying Maybelline The Rocket mascara and a few others to see if I can replace it. Low and behold I've found one that's the same price if not dearer, just my luck.

Estee Lauder's Sumptuous Extreme Mascara is a Volumising and lash multiplying mascara that thickens the look of lashes while also making them look longer ans fuller.

I received this mascara as a GWP a few weeks ago and have been using it pretty much every day since and it's not even half empty yet from what I can tell. It is only a sample size but the wand is regular and comes in a cone shape to get the inner lashes and outer at the same time and with ease.

It's very very black and long wearing, it doesn't flake but it isn't waterproof so as soon as you hit water, bam, you've got black eyes. This doesn't bother me though as I tend to always have an umbrella in the rain/don't go out in the rain so i haven't experienced that yet. But whenever I'm in the shower it's the first thing that will start to run off my face when washing my make up off!

I really like this mascara and it does everything that it claims it will do. I don't know the full price tag but like I said just go on Debenhams website and it'll be there if you search for it.

Have you ever tried this mascara? Let me know what you think!!

Hey!

This past week has been super eventful from having my 21st birthday, to copious amounts of alcohol and chocolate and then I've also been blogging and working. It's been super super fun and I wouldn't have changed it for the world!

The Birthday So like I said I turned 21 this week, Wednesday 23rd to be precise and I didn't do much for it other than drink wine and chill/go to the pub on the weekend but I loved the way I spent it and I was super grateful to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and took the time out of their day to let me know. I got a few presents like chocolate, wine, makeup and money and I was really happy with what I go. Even the girls at work got me a few presents which was super nice of them. In my old job nobody cared if it was your birthday, which was pretty sad! Overall, It was a brill day!

The Shoes With my birthday falling 2 days before payday, this week was a serious shopping week using the "it's my birthday" excuse I went out and bought some new clothes and some AMAZING shoes which are pictured above. I have literally fallen in love with them, they're so pretty and so so bright I just can't get over it! LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE.

So yeah, that was my week in review! Not too much happened but it was a super fun week! How has your week been? Let me know!

REVIEW // Mary Kay Cosmetics Satin Hands 24hr Moisturising Hand Cream

Hey!

During my day at work I do a lot of hands on work - bra fitting, stock rotation, carrying totes of delivery/pushing them around on carts, handling clothes rails and so on. This tends to take it's toll on my hands so I like to keep a moisturiser handy for those times when my hands feel they need a little pick me up.

My moisturiser of choice is Mary Kay Satin Hands. I was gifted this and a few other bits from a Mary Kay representative a few months back but haven't really been into hand creams until 1/2 months ago. I decided to use this one as Mary Kay were so generous to gift me it so I wanted to put it to good use.

At first use I didn't notice much difference in this hand cream than any other I've used apart from the fact it's fragrance free which is nice because I don't really want fragranced hands whilst working, it'll rub off onto the stock and I tend to rub my eyes a lot and recently my eyes have been uber sensitive. Even m Pro Longwear concealer has been a little uncomfortable here and there. So fragrance free was a big thumbs up. It's a white liquid/cream that just squeezes onto the hands and absorbs quickly.

I wasn't expecting miracles from this cream but I was surprised with the results, unlike other creams I've used it actually does the job for longer than a few hours, the moisturised feeling lasts pretty much the whole day! I put this on after washing my face etc in the morning and wont have to touch up until around 4-5pm which to me is a great thing, so a little really does go a long way.

It's super lightweight and great to the skin, no irritation, no burning and what have you so this cream gets a big thumbs up from me and my hands!!

Have you tried anything from Mary Kay? Let me know!

**Like i said this was gifted to me but my opinion is 100% honest and true 100% of the time.

21st Birthday Bloggin'

Hey!

So today is my 21st birthday, I feel just the same as ever! 21 seems like a big one and when I was younger I always thought people who were 20+ were so grown up and big boys and girls, now I'm here and I'm thinking not so much.

I didn't really do much today, I worked 9.20-1.20 and then came home and had a chill time, a bit of me time before the family came over. I watched The Simpsons, sipped on some Rosé and dived into a box of chocolates. Doesn't get much better than that.

I plan to go out for a "big" night out as well for my 21st, swanky hotel included, but for now this will do me just fine. I find as I'm getting older I'm wanting to go out less and less and prefer one big night out every once in a while, it really does make you appreciate both "you time" and partying so much more.

For my birthday I got bits and bobs here and there such as money, make up, wine, vodka, teddies, chocolates, cards and cream soda, yum! It really wasn't a huge thing but my family don't really go all out on birthdays and christmas, it's the little gestures that count and I'm so grateful to everyone that gifted me something today, it meant the world knowing that the people I care about care about me too, just by showing me little gestures of appreciation and surprises here and there. *cheesy*

The girls at work even got a few other people from around the store to sign my card which was super nice as everyone I work with are super super lovely so it's nice to have their little notes in my card to look back and and appreciate!

Overall I've had a super 21st birthday and can't wait for many many more!

What's your favourite thing to do on your birthday? Let me know!

Hey!

This week has been a little stressful with work and social life, I've been trying to keep the two separate but it's hard with getting days off with special occassions and things, I hate to mither people but you don't ask you don't get right? But with my mind set on getting the weekend off for my birthday, I sorted it out and got there in the end, still feel a little awkward though!

The Weather With the weather being nice this past week I've been feeling very summery with my makeup and clothes. I've been opting for a more easy looking bronze-y makeup and lots of colour has also been injected. I like to have a little experiment with my make up throughout the seasons and since this season it's all about florals, sun and pastels I've been injecting some colour and some bronze baked colours into my routine!

Car-booty On Easter Sunday me and my family went to a car boot sale in Rhyl and were just browsing around. I spied this beautiful silver plate/tray and I've been looking for one for EVER but when I looked on eBay or Amazon they were all round the £20-£30 mark and I didn't want to pay that much. I bagged this little beauty for £2! I was super pleased. I also bought a little Buddha statue. Go to my Instagram and check out the photo's I've taken!

Return of the Pink I redyed my hair pink, but only the ends. This was a wash in wash out type of deal as I love love love my blonde hair and didn't want to dye it and regret it like the last time I dyed it pink. I am glad to say I love it so am definitely going to put some more pink back in!

That's my week in review, how have your weeks been? My 21st birthday is coming up soon so next week's Monday Matter will give you the low down on that! See you then!!

REVIEW // Illamasqua's Precision Gel Liner in Infinity

Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner in Infinity 5g - £18.50, illamasqua.com

Hey!

So I bought this liner a few months ago after not really hearing much about it, but seeing it on Instagram everywhere, namely Illamasqua's when they promote artists using their products.

It looked very opaque to me and that's what I was looking for as my Maybelline 24hr Gel Liner just wasn't cutting the cake for me and I found it would drag too much on my eyes causing me to make more mistakes than necessary, other than that, with a little bit of work and a light hand the Maybelline one was fine, but I wanted something easy, quick and that got the job done without having to faff around being a perfectionist.

When I bought this I was hoping and praying that it would be good as this little 5g pot has set me back nearly £20 but when it arrived I was a little more optimistic. The Maybelline pot is quite large for an eyeliner but when you actually look properly at the pot you can see there is definitely more container than gel liner present and in actual fact is only a 2.5g product costing you £37 for 10ml, but with the Illamasqua version the pot is full to the brim all the way round with no "thick glass" illusions in sight. So I knew it was kinda of getting my moneys worth where that's concerned as Illamasqua don't skimp on product.

I use my Real TEchniques Silicone Liner brush to apply this and it works a dream. The consistency is super cream and super lightweight yet really really opaque and you can also build it up immediately by going over the lines without any of that separation you can sometimes get with liquid liner. You know, when you draw a liner and then go over it and it wipes away everything you've just done? None of that here.

The staying power is incredible, this often lasts longer than my Double Wear foundation so if I go on a night out and drunkenly forget to wipe my makeup off, in the morning I'll find my makeup has started to wipe away and separate where as my eyeliner will still be perfect. Gross I know but it was a good example of the staying power.

I often get compliments on how my eyeliner looks and questions about how I apply it, well now you know! Easy as that, the Real Techniques brush is so so fine and thin that you can really build up the thickness of the liner and the liner is just so good I really can't fault it.

It's super easy to use and very very good in my opinion and I have definitely found my holy grail gel liner. I used to be a felt pen type eyeliner gal but no more, I am converted to the wonders of gel!

Have you tried this liner? Let me know your thoughts and comments below!

The Monday Matter #8 ELF, Milkshakes and Motivation.

Hey!

This week has been all about planning my birthday. I turn 21 on April 23rd so send your cards in now!!! Just kidding.

The Hair I recently wrote up a post about my hair regime so I hope you found that helpful, I quite enjoy reading those posts myself as my hair likes a bit of changes and reacts well to new products. I hate sticking to the same ones and then my hair gets bored and stops being so full and soft so change is always good!

The Treats In this current money climate treats are vast and spontaneous for me so I barely get them and just randomly decide when I want to treat myself, I never really premeditate them. I love going out for a coffee or a milkshake with Huw (my boyfriend) or friends and my favourite is the Chocolate Frappe with whipped cream from Caffe Nero. Also you can't go wrong with a Gingerbread Man! Mmmmmm... *drools*

The Palette I was just browsing blog sales this week and found this amaaaazing ELF 100 Palette for £1.50 and I couldn't pass it up my need for it was unexplainable so, I bought it. I've been trying to incorporate more colour into my looks so using blues and greens and pinks to just liven up my make up and it really has livened up my mood! I love this palette and you can see above a few looks that I've done with it!

The Motivation I was browsing Instagram and Twitter and came across these two quotes and they';re just so applicable to my life right now. The bottom picture is actually two prints from and ETSY shop that I found and I really want to buy them and hang them up in my new flat when I move out of my parents in late May, just for a little motivation everyday to remind myself of where I want to be and giving myself that extra little push to get there!

How has your week been? Let me know in the comments!

UPDATED // Haircare Routine 2014

Hey!

Hair Care is something that is very important to me as I don't often have my hair chopped professionally - fear of the hairdressers who are often too scissor happy!

I tend to just trim the ends myself every 6 or so weeks, if that. So in the mean time I like to keep my hair as nourished and healthy as possibly because I do dye it a lot, being bottle blonde I need to keep my hair in optimum condition so I can continue to redye the roots and what have you without my hair falling out or going crispy and so far, it's worked so here's the products I use!

For shampoo and conditioner I tend to use whatever is in the bathroom that my parents have bought but recently I've been buying myself in a bid to get what suits my hairs needs best rather than whatever my dad finds in the supermarket. VO5 Smoothly Does It range has been a firm favourite of mine since february as it really does smooth my hair out and leave it smelling great and feeling super soft. I love shampoo ranges that will keep the smell on my hair even after blow drying and I do find it hard to find a range that does this for me, but have had no problems with the VO5 range.

Recently I have opted for L'oreal Fibrology as I want some more thickness to my hair, I do have naturally thick hair but a little more volume can't hurt right? I do love my hair to be big and "poofy" let's say for lack of a better term and I haven't been using the Fibrology range for long, infact I haven't been using the whole range, just the Shampoo & Conditioner but it's pleasing me so far and it works up a good lather on the head which I love as I can really feel it cleaning my hair without drying it out. The thickness hasn't improved largely but I'm hoping with further use it will as I've only actually used it twice so I will write up a full review in due course and keep you posted.

In terms of colour care I've been using the BLEACH LDN Silver Shampoo & Conditioner as I've seen many people rave about it and wanted to know if it was as good as all the reviews say. I've done a full review which you can read here but long story short, it has worked for me in some ways and I am pleased with it. My firm favourite for sorting brassiness has to be the Touch Of Silver Twice Weekly Brightening Shampoo as from one wash you can see the difference. It says on the bottle to leave it on the hair for 5 minutes twice a week but I usually just put it on my hair as soon as I'm in the shower, do anything I have to do e.g wash my face, shave and so on and then I rinse it off and go on with whatever shampoo I'm using so it's usually on my head around 10-15 minutes and I have absolutely no complaints with it. The £3.09 price tag is a bonus too because I can usually just buy it with my Boots card points!

Once a week I deep condition my hair and to do this I use TRESemme's Breakage Defence Deep Repair Mask. I put this on as soon as I get home or on Sundays if I'm not doing anything and I leave it for as long as possible which can be as long as 4 hours and then I wash it off when I get into the shower and continue with my usual routine. I have noticed such a huge difference in my hair from doing these masks and it doesn't even have to be this TRESemme one, I picked this up because it was £3 in ASDA, simple as. It can be any mask really but your hair will benefit from the deep moisturisation and my hair has even grow a little as it's stopped breaking as much at the end, result!

Now for the aftercare. When I get out of the shower, I usually towel dry my hair and put my VO5 Smoothly Does It cream on the lengths and tips of my hair AVOIDING the roots because too much moisture tends to way the hair does causing it to be flat and get greasy quicker. I mostly focus on the ends because I barely get my hair cut so I try to prolong the strength of my hair by getting as much moisture into it as I can without caking it in too many products. I also find hair oils to be a saviour on wet or dry hair and again I focus these on the ends. I sway more towards oils that say they have "argan" oil in them as I know this is a brilliant product for the hair & skin I just apply a pea-sized amount to the tips and then move onto the next step.

If I'm blow drying my hair I also use heat protectant before I put any heat onto it. The one I'm using at the moment is L'oreal 3-day Straight, there is not rhyme or reason for this, it was just buy one get one free at Boots and I took advantage but it is a pretty good protectant. I also put this on after blow drying and before straightening. I can't say it keeps my hair straight for 3 days though as usually if I'm straightening the night before, the next morning my hair tends to have a few waves just dotted around the place.

I also us a leave in conditioner occasionally, usually only when I've used any "silver" shampoo's or treatments as they're quite drying to the hair so I usually apply this half way through blow drying my hair when its just a little teeny bit damp or if I'm air drying I will just apply when my hair has almost dried.

Other than that all I do is avoid using heat every day and tend to only wash my hair twice a week, so I've invested in a shower cap (35p from Home Bargains!) and just use that in between washes when I get in the shower/bath each morning or night.

I hope this was helpful to anyone with over processed hair like mine! I find I need a lot of moisture in my hair nowadays because I do use a lot of dyes and heat on my hair but so far so good I still have a full head of thick hair!

What do you use on your hair? Let me know in the comments, I'm always looking to try new things!

REVIEW // BLEACH LONDON Silver Shampoo & Conditioner

Bleach London Silver Shampoo & Conditioner, £5 each - Boots

Hey!

Recently I've been on a bit of a mission to get completely white/silver hair and to do that I've been using a lot of different toners, silver shampoos, dyes etc.

I came across this when I was wandering around Boots and thought I'd give it a go as Bleach LDN have quite a good reputation when it comes to hair colour/care.

(Sorry the picture is a little blurry)

This really gave my hair a white cast but it also left it very silver very fast, and only in certain places. I do love it as it is strong and fast working but I do find it quite drying. This doesn't bother me too much as I tend to use a deep repair hair masque before I use it, or once a week.

Overall, it does what it says on the tin! It will turn your hair silver gradually (unless you're like me and use ti as a hair mask) and the conditioner is lovely and moisturising for the hair with the added benefit of also containing a violet pigment.

If you're looking to go silver or reduce brassiness this is a good option for your hair care needs but I will probably be sticking to my Touch Of Silver treatment after this has been used up!

What do you think of this product? Let me know in the comments!

The Monday Matter #7

Hey!

This week I've been pretty chilled. I really feel like I appreciate my days off a lot more when I've been busy on my work days and this makes me happy. I'm becoming more organised with my time, slowly, and I'm hoping in turn, with hard work, will come some good rewards and an easy (as can be) life!

The Selfies As you can see this Monday Matter features a LOT of selfies. I've been on my selfie game this week or my "vain" game if you want to see it that way. As I've recently got a new phone which calls the front camera the "selfie" camera. It even says "selfie" when you go to selected it in options! How up to date are phone producing companies now? Selfie has even been recognised as an ACTUAL word in the dictionary! Bizarre.

The Hair Ok so I had to dye my roots back into blonde the other day and it completely threw off my whole "ashy" look and made me more brassy than anything. So I've been on a serious silver shampoo binge and my hair is now lighter than ever and I'm loving it!

The Makeup I've been really practicing and going out on jobs to work up my portfolio for my professional makeup career (which is still in it's early stages.) A lot of my jobs are unpaid because I'm not professional, I'm not saying I'm not good, but I wouldn't charge someone ridiculous amounts for a face of makeup when I've only done a few faces plus they're doing me a favour for letting me put their faces in my portfolio. The only time I charge is for travel (which is most of the time as I live in a village.) Hopefully soon though I can charge professionally! I've been putting a lot of my practice looks, which I do on myself, on Instagram and thank you to everyone who's been so positive, it means a lot!

That's my week in review, how's your week been?? Let me know in the comments below!

Updated Skincare Routine // 2014

View my old Skincare Routine post > Here <

Hey!

Since my last Skincare Routine post, a few things have changed, apart from my Garnier ExfoBrush Oil Free Daily Face Wash pretty much everything has changed (Hence why the face wash isn't pictured, but I still use it.) I gravitate towards oil free products for my skin as I'm very oily and don't want to add too much oil back into it. That being said I also don't want to deprive my skin of moisture, so I try to balance out what I put onto my skin and ALWAYS read the ingredients of the products I'm using. Let's take a look, shall we?

Products Used:
  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - Make up remover
  • Estee Lauder Day Wear Moisturiser
  • Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream
  • Sudocrem
  • Avon Clear Skin Spot Treatment
  • Maylash Eyelash Serum
As you can see, it's a pretty simple routine. When I take my make up off, I'll use my Micellar Water and then ExfoBrush Face Wash just to be sure no make up is left on the skin. But when I wake up in the morning I'll usually just use a face wipe, any brand I'm not fussy, sometimes I even use baby wipes, and then I go in with the Micellar Water as the only things I'll have on are my moisturisers and what not so I don't feel the needs for full on exfoliation, as I would've done it the night before.

I tend to only use the Eye Cream at night, I find it's quite heavily moisturising, which I think is great, but in the day it tends to make my eyes puff up as they absorb it so I just go with the Day Wear moisturiser instead so my face is less caked in products.

I recently changed my Micellar Water from L'Oreal to the Garnier offering after hearing so many good things about the Garnier one, I just wanted to give it a go and considering you get double the amount in the Garnier compared to the L'oreal for the same price tag, I'm definitely glad I did swap it up because so far the Garnier Micellar Water is working wonders for me.

I use the Avon Spot Treatment every night on any spot or blemishes and come morning the blemishes are gone, (including redness) and the spots are reduced to little blemishes. It takes a maximum of two nights to get rid of any blemishes with this little miracle so I'm really glad I've discovered it and don't think I'll ever change it. I have tried Soap & Glory Dr Spot which again is good, but it takes a little longer for that one to get going on my skin. Being impatient as I am, I'd rather have to only wait 1 or 2 days for a spot to go rather than 3 or 4. Considering the Soap & Glory one is £8.99 and the Avon one is £2.50, it just makes so much sense which one to buy, doesn't it?

I use Sudocrem for any blemishes, cuts, burns etc. It really is a miracle cream. I have cats and sometimes they get a little playful with my hair when I'm lying on the sofa or just generally playing with them and they tend to get their claws out and..well you now what's next - they can sometimes scratch my skin by accident. I find if I have any mishaps of that sort, a bit of Sudocrem heals and soothes them within hours pretty much, I also use it for rashes as I wore a necklace that gave me a weird rash the other day so out came the Sudocrem!

Maylash was recently gifted to me for review. It's an all natural eyelash serum that doesn't contain any chemicals which would irritate the eyes, which other serums apparently do have, and it helps you lashes grow thicker and longer within 6-8 weeks. I've been using this near enough every night for about 4 weeks now and I have to say I've noticed a difference, I've missed out a total of 6 nights during 4 weeks so I'd say I had enough 3-4 weeks to go to see the full effects but I'm still really pleased with it. Full review to comes at the end of the Maylash testing course.

That's my full skin care routine! I hope you've enjoyed seeing this and I hope you have found it helpful/seen some products you may want to give a go! Let me know what you think, leave a comment below!

REVIEW // Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in Peach Passion

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in Peach Passion (Shimmer) £25, Debenhams

Hey!

You've probably seen this in my March favourites but as a beauty blogger it's my job to write up a full review, so here I am! Doing that for you :)

This blush has become my staple in these summer months because it's so light and shimmery yet so pigmented. The peach tones gives it that perfect edge for these (what are supper to be) Spring/Summery months and the shimmer, which comes in the form of very finely milled gold flecks are the perfect addition to this already stunning blush.

The packaging is another factor that caught my eye as it's just so stunning. Estee Lauder are known for having very classy, grown up and sophisticated make up packaging as well as quality products, possibly why they get lumbered as the "old lady brand" so often, but I really do love them despite the age band they've been stuck in, I think the brand is superb for all ages and sexs.

The wear time is incredible and will hold up just as long as your base will. I often wear Estee's Double Wear so the two stay on all day, no problems, even on my oil slicked skin.

Conclusively, this blush is amazing, the price tag is a little steep but it's ok as a one off treat right? I wouldn't go filling my draws full of every colour from the range (since 4 of these would set me back £100, yikes!) but as a one off, it's brilliant as you barely even need to touch the blush to get the colour pay off, so I can see it lasting a long time.

Have you ever tried this blush range? Let me know, leave me a comment!
